Depart for Marseille.
FRIDAY, MAY 23 - AVIGNON
Upon arrival in Marseille transfer to your hotel in Avignon, using it as a base to discover this historic region. This evening get acquainted with fellow travelers at a Welcome Dinner. (D)
SATURDAY, MAY 24 - AVIGNON
Explore Avignon with its thriving streets and beautiful vistas and Villeneuve-Les-Avignon, the charming town across the river. Then explore one of the most famous palaces in the Christian world, Palais des Papes. (BL)
SUNDAY MAY 25 - AVIGNON
Depart and tour the region, including Orange with the best-preserved Roman theatre in Europe and its Triumphal Arch. Then onto Vaison-La-Romaine with its medieval streets and Roman ruins. After a full day of touring enjoy a wine tasting. (BL)
MONDAY, MAY 26 – AVIGNON
Tour some of France’s most appealing hill towns. In Gordes visit the Cistercian Abbey. Then have lunch in Lacoste and view the Chateau of the Marquis De Sade. (BL)
TUESDAY, MAY 27 - AVIGNON
Journey to Les Baux perched on a mighty spur of rock high above the surrounding countryside. There visit the castle. Later tour Arles, including the Roman Theater, the Amphitheater, the Alscamp and St. Trophime Cloister. (BL)
WEDNESDAY, MAY 28 – AVIGNON
Today travel to Tarascon to tour its formidable 12th-century Chateau. Later journey to Nimes to visit the world’s best-preserved Roman amphitheater and the Maison Carree. After lunch stop at the Pont du Gard, the well-preserved, much-photographed huge aqueduct. (BL)
THURSDAY, MAY 29 - AIX-EN-PROVENCE
Depart for Aix-En-Provence with a stop in Glanum and St. Remy to visit the ancient Monastery of St. Paul De Mausole, the Musee Archeologique and the Mausoleum. After lunch enjoy a wine tasting at Domaine De Pey Blanc. (BL)
FRIDAY, MAY 30 – BEAULIEU-SUR-MER
Before departing for Beaulieu-Sur-Mer visit St. Sauvier Cathedral, the Granet Museum housed in the former center of the Knights of Malta as well as the gardens at the Vendome Pavilion. After lunch in Cannes, enjoy a Petit Train ride through old Cannes. (BL)
SATURDAY, MAY 31 - BEAULIEU-SUR-MER
Explore Nice from the Cours Saleya Flower Market to the Russian Orthodox Cathedral with a visit to the Matisse Museum. In the afternoon leisurely enjoy Nice on your own. (BL)
SUNDAY, JUNE 1 - BEAULIEU-SUR-MER
Today visit the hilltop town of Eze and LaTurbie on the way to Monaco to visit the Prince’s Palace. Spend leisure time trying your hand in the casino, shopping or sightseeing. On the way back relax over a cup of tea at the Villa Rothschild. (BL)
MONDAY, JUNE 2 - BEAULIEU-SUR-MER
This morning travel to two more charming hilltop towns. In Vence visit the Chapel of the Rosary, decorated by Matisse and St. Paul de Vence for a tour of the Fondation Maeght. Afternoon is at leisure. Tonight share fond memories at a farewell dinner. (BD)
