Depart for Basel.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 30 - BASEL
Arrive in Basel and transfer to your outside cabin
accommodations on your Viking River Cruises
ship. Later join a “welcome walk” to stretch your
legs and start getting oriented. (D)
MONDAY, AUGUST 31 - BASEL
After breakfast, join a tour of this multicultural
city. See its historic Middle Bridge, cathedral and
steep winding streets. Then tour one of the city’s
many art museums. Afternoon is at leisure.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 - BREISACH
This morning, arrive in Breisach, gateway to
the Black Forest. After breakfast enjoy an
excursion through the area’s mountain landscape,
meadows and dense forests and see a cuckoo
clock-making demonstration. Free time this
afternoon. Or, join the optional guided walking
tour of Colmar, a quaint Alsatian town. (BLD)
WEDNESDAY,SEPTEMBER 2 - STASBOURG
Today take a guided tour of Strasbourg. See the
European Parliament and tour inside the city’s
famed cathedral. After lunch you are free to
further explore the old section of this French-
German city. (BLD)
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 - HEIDELBERG
& RUDESHEIM
Enjoy a journey to Heidelberg, home to
Germany’s oldest university founded in 1386.
There, tour the imposing Heidelberg Castle,
a red sandstone ruin overlooking the Neckar
River. Continue with a walking tour through the
Old Town and marketplace. The afternoon is
spent cruising with a late arrival in Rudesheim.
There enjoy free time in the Drosselgasse,
a pedestrian-only street. (BLD)
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 - RUDESHEIM
& KOBLENZ
This morning, take a mini-train to tour Siegfried’s
Mechanical Music Museum. Spend this afternoon
cruising through past legendary Lorelei Rock,
and then visit 700 year-old Marksburg Castle

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 - COCHEM
& COLOGNE
After breakfast, take a walking tour through this
quaint village. See its medieval town gate and
marketplace. Then visit a winery and taste some
local vintages. This afternoon cruise to Cologne.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 - COLOGNE
Today your walking tour takes you past St.
Martin’s Church to Cologne’s Old Town and
includes a visit to the magnificent Gothic
cathedral. Then tour a local Brauhaus and

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 - ARNHEM
This morning’s excursion is to the site of the
Operation Market Garden and the Airborne
Museum from World War II. After lunch explore
this quaint town rich in history on your own.

Enjoy a glass-topped canal cruise past merchant
houses and the famed Skinny Bridge. Visit the
Van Gogh Museum and explore works by the

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 - GOUDA
& ROTTERDAM
After breakfast, take a journey to Hoogerwaard
Cheese Farm for a guided tour and cheesemaking
demonstration. Continue to Gouda,
world renowned for its cheese. See the Town
Hall and St. John’s Church. Sail through dinner

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 - DELFT
& DORDRECHT
From Rotterdam, take a journey to Delft, famous for
its blue-and-white china. Enjoy a pottery demonstration.
Then, see the Nieuwe Kerk and the Prinsenhof on a
guided tour. This afternoon sail to Dordrecht where
you have a free afternoon in this charming Dutch
town or take an optional excursion to see the windmills
at Kinderdijk. (BLD)
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 - BRUGGE
Today enjoy a tour of Brugge where you see the
medieval Beguinage courtyard and gardens, the
Church of Our Lady, Gruuthuuse Palace and Simon
Stevin Square. Enjoy a Belgian meal in a local

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 - ANTWERP
This morning, tour Antwerp. See Our Lady Cathedral,
the Town Hall and Steen Castle. Then, visit the
Rubens Museum, filled with works by Peter Paul
Rubens. Spend this last afternoon exploring Antwerp
